About

We got married in October 2011 and are setting off in April 2012 for our new life on the West Coast. We’ve been living in Maryland for 5 years (Susan) and 3.5 years (Brice) due to Susan’s graduate program at the University of Maryland which brought her, and subsequently her then-boyfriend, to the area. Now it’s time to head back out to Brice’s old stomping grounds in the Pacific Northwest to put down roots.

Sane people would rent a U-Haul, stick the cats and a case of Red Bull in the cab of the truck, and rumble along the freeways and highways of the country to their destination. We figure that this is our last good chance to do something insane until the kids go off to college and we retire, so we’d better seize it.

So we’re biking there.

Our route will take us up the C&O Canal trail and the Great Allegheny Passage to Pittsburgh, across Ohio and Indiana, through Illinois, where we’ll visit Susan’s family, and then through Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and finally across Washington State to the Puget Sound. We’re going to camp along the way and stay with friends and perhaps some friendly strangers, explore new places, and revel in the freedom of having no schedule, no suit or tie, and no particular responsibility except to each other.

We hope you enjoy following our travel and adventure through our blog. Thanks for visiting!
