Get Your Kicks on Route 46
Brice already fell asleep so I don’t have our stats for the day, but we did about 60 miles at speeds that reached 18 mph, thanks to the beautiful headwind (correction: tailwind) gorgeous weather, and the road that was smooth as butter with the widest, clearest shoulder we’ve seen. (Hardly any roadkill!) Hands down the best day of riding yet.
I also need to revise my declaration of best diner; it’s now the Aromas Cafe in Brooksville, IN, thanks to the superbly thick and fluffy pancakes and its crowd of ol’ timer regulars, with whom we shared a table this morning. The gang of gray-haired gentlemen was led by Frank the bank president, who pooh-poohed our host Paul’s recommendation of the best road to take to get out of town, and instead sent us on an alternate route which was supposedly less hilly but also led us through the town of Oldensburg. Oldensburg calls itself the Village of Spires and its German roots are so strong that the street signs are bilingual. (“Tell Paul his route is no good,” said Frank. Paul, consider yourself told.)
Adorable Franciscan hydrant in Oldensburg:
Anyway, not much to say about today other than AWESOME.
Tomorrow: rain.

So did you drink any German beer in Oldenburg? I went to the website & understand that “In heaven there ain’t no beer, that’s why we drink it here.” http://www.freudenfest.com/
Where are you right now?
No, we passed through Oldenburg at like 9:00 a. m.
Standing at the kitchen counter of Dan and Tammie’s house in Columbus, Indiana.
Hope you are enjoying the trip so far, and the wonders of Indiana.
Hope we can meet up while you are in Bloomington, as Bedford is not far and I can easily find where you are.
